What a fantastic recipe for grits! For an extra layer of flavor, readers could try adding a pinch of smoked paprika or a touch of garlic powder while cooking.

Thank you for sharing this comforting and delicious dish! It’s such a versatile base for so many toppings.

I'm not sure if these are "true" GRITS but I found some today at "Rainbow Acres." It's a little independent grocery store on the Westside of LA (Washington BLVD). They have white and yellow corn GRITS in their bulk food section! I got some yellow corn ones and I'm gonna test them out on my backpacking trip!

Ok, I've done some research. As far as I can tell, you just can't get true grits in L.A. But you can get them online. I've posted the grits that I'd trust from Amazon in our Stuff We Like collection. Otherwise, your best bet is to search the term “Stone Ground Grits” online, or accept polenta as a grits substitute from the market.

That is a great question, Stacy. So far, I haven't found any (although I do most of my shopping in the big city of Redlands). Try specialty food stores or the more upscale places like Whole Foods. Maybe they can order you some. If you find a source, let us know! Thanks!
