Jalama Beach Campground is a hidden gem about an hour away from Santa Barbara (3hrs from Los Angeles). Jalama road leads you through classic central California scenery of rolling hills dotted by Oak trees before unveiling a spectacular view of the Pacific Ocean. Lompoc is the nearest town, about 45 minutes away (by car). There are 117 campsites, most with a view of the beach.

Insider Information

  1. It is highly suggested to make reservations for a campsite (and apparently day use areas too). Campsites 53 to 64 are directly on the beach.
  2. There are several wineries along Santa Rosa Road making Jalama Beach a great home base for wine tasting.
  3. If your legs are up for it, bring your bike and cycle along Jalama Road or start in Solvang for some great routes.
