The first time I went to Jalama Beach was with Nick, Aimee and Kismat back in 2008 or 2009. We were training for our cross-Canada bike tour and wanted to explore some new territory while testing out legs and gear. We parked our cars in Buellton, and after making an obligatory stop at the famous Pea Soup Andersen’s Restaurant, we headed out on our loaded bikes.
The ride challenged us with lots of steep grades, but we were rewarded on the downhills by the beautiful scenery and the sense that we were far far away from any metropolis. The best part was the downhill into the campground overlooking the beach and the ocean. Home sweet home!

- If your legs are up for it, bring your bike and cycle along Jalama Road or start in Solvang for some great routes.
Hi! Do you remember what spot you stayed in? Was it really windy? Trying to figure out which spots are less wind.
Hi Roman! We were in one of the sites higher up in the row 105-117 if you take a look at the campground map. I don’t remember it being very windy but there’s usually a breeze that comes in from the ocean around 3p on a daily basis. It typically dies down once the sun sets… Hope this helps!
